نَـوَاقـضُ‏ الْـوُضُـوء (Nawaaqiḍu-l-Wuḍuu’ [The Nullification of Wuḍuu’]) from Matn al-Akhḍarii

(فصل) نَوَاقِضُ الْوُضُوءِ

 The Nullification of Wuḍuu’ (Minor Ablution)

نَـوَافِـضُ‏ ‬الْـوُضُـوء أَحْـدَاثٌ وَأَسْـبَابٌ

نَـوَافِـضُ‏ ‬الْـوُضُـوء (The nullification of wuḍuu’) أَحْـدَاثٌ (is caused by impurities of the body [that occur]) and أَسْـبَابٌ (other things that cause [the nullification of wuḍuu’]).

فَالأَحْدَاثُ  الْبَولُ وَالْغَائِطُ وَالرِّيحُ وَالْـمَـذْيُ وَالْوَذْيُ .

الأَحْـدَاثُ (The impurities which  occur that nullify wuḍuu) are: الْـبَوْلُ (urine), وَالْـغَائِـطُ (faeces), وَالرِّيحُ (wind), وَالْـمَـذْيُ (fluid from sexual desire),  وَالْـوَذْيُ (and prostatic fluid).

وَالأَسْبَابُ  النَّوْمُ الثَّقِيلُ وَالإِغْمَاءُ وَالسُّكْرُ وَالْـجُنُونُ والْقُبْلَةُ ، وَلَـمْسُ الْـمَـرْأَةِ إِنْ قَصَدَ اللَّذَّةَ أَوْ وَجَدَهَا ، وَمَسُّ الذَّكَرِ بَِبَاطِنِ الْكَفِّ أَوْ بِبَاطِنِ الأَصَابِعِ .

الأَسبَابُ (The other things which  cause the nullification of wuḍuu’) are: النَّوْمُ‏ ‬الثَّقِيل (heavy [deep] sleep), وَالإِغْـمَاءُ (unconsciousness), وَالسُّكْرُ(intoxication), وَالْـجُنُونُ (insanity), والْـقُبْلَةُ (kissing), وَلَـمْسُ الْـمَـرْأَةِ ([a man] touching a woman) إِنْ قَـصَدَ اللَّذَّةَ (when he intended to find pleasure) أَوْ وَجَـدَهَـا (or if he found it [pleasure]), وَمَـسُّ الذَّكَـرِ (and touching the penis) بِـبَاطِـنِ‏ ‬الْـكَفِّ (with the palm of the hand) or بِـبَاطِـنِ‏ ‬الأَصَـابِـع (the inside of the fingers).

  وَمَنْ شَكَّ فِي حَدَثٍ وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْوُضُوءُ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ مُوَسْوِسًا فَلاَ شَيْءَ عَلَـيْهِ .

وَمَـنْ شَـكَّ (Whoever has doubt) فِـي حَـدَثٍ  (in regards to the occurrence [of any of these above mention matters]) وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْوُضُوءُ (has to to perform wuḍuu’),   إِلاَّ أَنْ يَـكُونَ مُـوَسْـوِسًـا (unless he is often doubtful), فَلاَ شَيْءَ عَلَـيْهِ (then he doesn’t have to do anything [in regards to performing wuḍuu’]).

وَيَجِبُ عَلَيْهِ غَسْلُ الذَّكَرِ كُلِّهِ مِنَ الْـمَـذِْي وَلاَ يَغْسِلُ الأُنْثَيَيْـنِ .

وَيَجِبُ عَلَيْهِ غَسْلُ الذَّكَرِ كُلِّهِ (The washing of the entire penis becomes obligatory for him) مِـنَ الْـمَـذِْي (due to the flowing of the thin fluid of sexual arousal),  وَلاَ يَغْسِـلُ الأُنْـثَيَيْـنِ (but He should not wash the testicles).

وَالْـمَـذْىُ  هُوَ الْـمَـاءُ الْـخَارِجُ عِنْدَ الشَّهْوَةِ الصُّغْرَى بِتَفَكُّرٍ أَوْ نَظَرٍ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ .

وَالْـمَـذْىُ (Al-Madh-yu) هُـوَ الْـمَـاءُ (is the liquid) الْـخَارِجُ عِـنْدَ الشَّهْوَةِ الصُّغْرَى (which is emitted as a result of minor sexual arousal)  بِـتَفَكُّرٍ  ([stimulated] by lustful thoughts), أَوْ نَـظَرٍ  (or something that is seen) أَوْ غَـيْرِهِ (or other causes [which are similar]).

(فصل)

لَا يَحِلُّ لَغَيْرِ الْـمُـتَوَضِّيءِ صَلاَةٌ وَلَا طَوَافٌ وَلَا مَسُّ نُسْخَةِ الْقُرْآَنِ الْعَظًيمِ وَلَا جِلْدَهَا لَا بِيَدِهِ وَلَا بِعُودٍ وَنَحْوِهِ إِلاَّ الْـجُزْءَ مِنْهَا الْـمُتَعَلِّمَ فِيهِ وَلَا مَسُّ لَوْحِ الْـقْرآنِ الْعَظِيمِ عَلَى غَيْرِ الوُضُوءِ إِلاَّ لِـمُتَعَلِّـمٍ فِيهِ أَوْ مُعَلِّـمٍ يُصَحِّحُهُ وَالصَّبِىُّ فِي مَسِّ الْقُرْآنِ كَالْكَبِيرِ وَالْإِثْمُ عَلَى مُنَاوِلِهِ لَهُ وَمَنْ صَلَّى بَغَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ عَامِدًا فَهُوَ كَافِرٌ وَالْعِيَاذُ بِاللهِ‏ِ .

Sub-Section:

لَا يَحِـلُّ (It is not permissible),  لَـغَيْرِ الْـمُـتَوَضِّيءِ (for anyone who has not performed ablution), صَـلاَةٌ (to [perform] prayer), وَلَا طَـوَافٌ (nor circle the Kaʿbah), وَلَا مَـسُّ نُـسْخَةِ الْـقُرْآَنِ الْـعَظًيمِ (nor touch a copy of the Exalted Qur’an), وَلَا جِـلْدَهَـا  (nor it’s leather binding), لَا بِـيَدِهِ (neither with his hand) وَلَا بِـعُودٍ (nor with a stick) وَنَـحْوِهِ (nor anything similar), إِلاَّ الْـجُـزْءَ مِـنْهَا (except for the part of it [the Qur’an]) الْـمُتَعَلِّمَ فِـيهِ (which he is studying). وَلَا مَـسُّ لَـوْحِ الْـقْرآنِ الْـعَظِيمِ (nor is [it permissible] to touch the wooden study board which has verses of the Exalted Qur’an on it) عَـلَى غَـيْرِ الوُضُـوءِ (without having wuḍuu’), إِلاَّ لِـمُتَعَلِّـمٍ فِـيهِ (except for one who is learning it [the Holy Qur’an]) أَوْ مُـعَلِّـمٍ  (or teacher) يُـصَحِّحُهُ (who is correcting him).  [The case of] وَالصَّبِىُّ (the child) فِـي مَـسِّ الْـقُرْآنِ (in regard to touching the Qur’an) كَالْكَبِيرِ (is the same as that of the adult), وَالْإِثْمُ عَلَى مُنَاوِلِهِ لَهُ  (while the sin falls upon the person who gives the Qur’an to him [the child]).

وَمَـنْ صَـلَّى (Whoever prays)  بَـغَيْرِ وُضُـوءٍ (without performing wuḍuu’) عَـامِـدًا (intentionally)  فَـهُوَ كَـافِـرٌ (is a disbeliever),  وَالْـعِيَاذُ بِـاللهِ‏ِ (and preservation [from this] is with Allah [alone]).

(فصل)

يَجِبُ الْغُسْلُ مِنْ ثَلاَثَةِ أَشْيَاءٍ  الـْجَنَابَةِ وَالـْحَيْضِ وَالنَّفَاسِ وَمَنْ رَأى فِي مَنَامِهِ كَأَنَّهُ يُجَامِعُ وَلَـمْ يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ مَنِيٌّ فَلاَ شَيْءَ عَلَيْهِ .

Sub-Section:

يَـجِبُ الْغُسْـلُ (Ablution for major impurity) مِـنْ ثَـلاَثَـةِ أَشْـيَاءٍ  (is necessary in three cases): الْجَـنَابَـة (sexual impurity), وَالـْـحَيْضِ (menstruation) and وَالنَّفَاسِ (the blood of childbirth).

فَالـْجَنَابَةُ قِسْمَانِ  أَحَدُهُمَا خُرُوجُ الْـمَـنِيُّ بِلَذَّةٍ مُعْتَادَةٍ فِي نَوْمٍ أَوْ يَقْظَةٍ بِجِمَاعٍ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ . وَالثَّانِي  مَغِيبُ الـْحَشَفَةِ فِي الْفَرْجِ .

  الْـجَنَابَـة (Sexual impurity) قِـسْمَانِ (is of two kinds): أَحَـدُهُـمَا خُـرُوجُ الْـمَـنِيُّ (one kind is the emission of sperm) بِـلَذَّةٍ مُـعْتَادَةٍ  (in the course of normal pleasure)فِـي نَـوْمٍ ([derived] (in sleep) يَقْظَةٍ (or wakefulness) بِجِمَاعٍ (due to the pleasure of sexual intercourse) أَوْ غَـيْرِهِ (or other reasons). وَالثَّانِي (The second kind [of sexual impurity]) مَـغِيبُ الـْـحَشَفَةِ ([is cause] by the disappearance of the penis)  فِي الْفَرْجِ (into the opening of the vagina).

وَمَنْ رَأى فِي مَنَامِهِ كَأَنَّهُ يُجَامِعُ وَلَـمْ يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ مَنِيٌّ فَلاَ شَيْءَ عَلَيْهِ. وَمَنْ وَجَدَ فِي ثَوْبِهِ مَنِيًّا يَابِسًا لاَ يَدْرِي مَتىَ أَصَابَهُ  اغْتَسَلَ وَأعَادَ مَا صَلَّى مِنْ آخِرِ نَوْمَةٍ نَامَهَا فِيهِ .

وَمَـنْ رَأى (Whoever has seen) فِـي مَـنَامِـهِ (in his dream) كَـأَنَّهُ يُـجَامِـعُ (what seemed like he was having sexual intercourse), وَلَـمْ يَخْـرُجُ مِـنْهُ مَـنِيٌّ (but sperm was not emitted by him), فَـلاَ شَـيْءَ عَـلَيْهِ (does not have to do anything [in regards to ablution]), وَمَـنْ وَجَـدَ (while whoever finds),  فِـي ثَـوْبِـهِ (on his clothing), مَـنِيّـًا‏ ‬يَـابِـسًا (dry semen), لاَ يَـدْرِي (and he doesn’t know)  مَـتىَ أَصَـابَهُ (when it [the seminal discharge] occurred), اغْتَسَلَ (then he must perform ghusl) وَأعَـادَ مَـا صَـلَّى (and repeat what he prayed) مِـنْ آخِرِ نَـوْمَـةٍ نَـامَـهَا (after the last time he slept) فِـيهِ (in them [the seminally soiled clothing]).
